Chronic Inflammation Often Remains Undetected, but Has Serious Implications
If you look at any disease, health concern or medical condition, you are likely to find inflammation at the root as an underlying cause.
According to some of the most interesting and progressive health writings by medical doctors, inflammation in of itself is actually a good thing in many cases. However, too much of a good thing is sure recipe for problems down the road, and excessive inflammation drives serious illnesses and even apparently terminal conditions.
Inflammation often results from some form of irritation to the body in the form of toxicity, allergy or a lack of nutrients. Inflammatory states are part of the body’s defense mechanism, designed to attack pathogens and increase circulation and temperature at wound and system malfunction sites to encourage healing and recovery.
The symptoms of serious inflammation, such as a rash, heartburn attack or infection literally stick out like a sore thumb. However, inflammation is often neglected at long term, disease causing levels. The danger signs of low level inflammation as described by Dr. Mark Hyman, M.D. in his writings on inflammation are subtle, insidious and may be overlooked by patients and medical practitioners.
A wide range of health factors including overreactions in the immune system such as allergies and autoimmune disorders, overly sensitive organs, physiological problems and stressed digestive system elements may cause inflammation to become prolonged and pathological. Serious health effects including cancers, nutrient deficiencies, arthritis, heart disease, obesity, blood sugar problems, dementia, depression and even personality disorders may result from inflammation that runs out of control and damages tissues.
Inflammation may lead to further inflammation in a vicious cycle that perpetuates symptoms. Medical research suggests that inflammation is at the heart of essentially every type of medical condition. It would appear that our society faces a problem where diagnosis of inflammation and treatment is concerned. Chronic inflammation destroys organs and may rapidly increase aging and mortality rates, according to a health study published by the National Institute of Health.
To be healthy, you should attack all angles to improve how your body runs using a logical approach. Increased water intake allows waste to be eliminated, while healthy foods with sufficient fiber, nutrients and chemical composition may be helpful. Include sufficient Omega 3’s, vegetables, healthy proteins and fruits in your diet, and avoid exposure to smoke, excessive alcohol intake and environmental toxins.
Every time you are exposed to toxins, cell damage and detox pathway use leads to inflammation. Sufficient exercise and sleep is also important, and allows the body to regenerate and recover, leading to reduced inflammation levels.
Certain natural health care products may also be helpful. Looking at the larger body system. There are herbs with properties that may help soothe inflamed tissues by reducing inflaming uric acid levels in the body tissues. Components with tannins, alkaloids and phenols all have differing effects on body systems and may be custom selected. The right herbs may provide antioxidants for the maintenance of good health.
Certain herbs may used for all forms of inflammation including arthritis, gout, and rheumatism. Others may work by stimulating circulation which may help relieve pain and inflammation associated with rheumatic conditions.
Green tea is a first class antioxidant that supports immune system function and contains anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcer compounds that may address many types of chronic inflammation. Quality Control is an essential consideration when choosing herbal products.
Pay attention to your body’s signals, and consider where each element of your lifestyle fits in with your inflammation reduction plan.
